THE WORLD ON YOUR DESKTOP
Introducing EarthDesk 6.
Imagine gazing through the window of an orbiting spaceship. Now imagine that view on your desktop. Welcome to EarthDesk.
EarthDesk features near real-time clouds, accurate sun, moon, and city lighting, moonlight reflection, and high-quality twilight shading.
Choose from 11 map projections, 4 maps (satellite and political), and 10,000 centering options, including the International Space Station.
With multi-display support, you can display different maps on different screens, or span one map across multiple screens. You can also choose to put map images only on selected monitors.
EarthDesk automatically updates when waking from sleep.
CRISP, REALISTIC IMAGES
Unique to EarthDesk is accurate rendering of moonlight on the Living Earth satellite map. To create this stunning effect, the phase of the moon and reflectiveness of the Earth's surface are used to determine correct coloring of the image, ensuring a realistic view of the Earth from space.
GLOBAL CLOUD COVER
EarthDesk displays near real-time global cloud cover (internet access required), letting you track storms and volcanic eruptions, or simply admire our beautiful planet. You can also adjust the overall transparency of the cloud layer.
Standard resolution clouds are free, while high-resolution clouds require a separate cloud key.
GAZETTEEREarthDesk's gazetteer uses the same database as Time Palette, providing detailed geographical information for 10,000 cities worldwide. Your selected cities can now be labeled on the map.
EarthDesk's new Presets option lets you name and save collections of settings - even for multiple screens. Toggle between them with ease!
New to EarthDesk 6 is the ability to watch the sun, moon and International Space Station move across the screen. You can also add grid lines, such as the equator or the Arctic Circle.
With so many options at your fingertips, gazing at the Earth from space has never been easier!
