The following list details changes made to our products in recent updates.

All new versions are announced at VersionTracker as well as MacUpdate. News of major upgrades will be sent to registered users unless otherwise requested.

EarthDesk 4.2 - 28 April, 2008
  • Added a screen saver only mode.
  • Fixed a bug that could cause the cloud server list to not update periodically.
  • Improved the communication between the EarthDesk prefpane and the rendering engine.

EarthDesk 4.1 - 12 November, 2007
  • Added a new natural map image, providing a true-color view from space.
  • Individual screens can now be turned on/off from the EarthDesk Menu Item.
  • Fixed a bug that could cause EarthDesk to not restore the desktop when quitting.
  • Several miscellaneous internal changes.

EarthDesk 4.0.4 - 10 September, 2007
  • Improved management and deletion of stale image files when when quitting / launching.
  • Several miscellaneous internal changes.

EarthDesk 4.0.3 - 20 February, 2007
  • Fixed a rare bug that could cause rendering to stop when using an Equirectangular map.
  • Fixed a situation where multiple versions on one machine could cause install problems.
  • Added an uninstall button to simplify evaluation of the software.

EarthDesk 4.0.2 - 10 February, 2007
  • Improvements to ensure future compatibility with OS X 10.5 (Leopard).
  • Fixed a typo in the Centering Menu.
  • Fixed a bug that reversed Equatorial Sunset / Equatorial Moonrise centering.
  • Added option to allow for random projections with each iteration.
  • Random Centering limits latitude to the range -80...+80.


EarthDesk 4.5.2 (Windows) - 8 January, 2008
  • Many internal changes. All users should update to this version.

EarthDesk 4.5.1 (Windows) - 11 October, 2007
  • Fixed a bug preventing deletion of old map files on some installations of Vista.

EarthDesk 4.5 (Windows) - 11 September, 2007
  • Greatly improved rendering speed (up to 300% - depending on map type).
  • New Preferences window.
  • Several miscellaneous internal changes.

EarthDesk 4.1 (Windows) - 9 May, 2007
  • Removed dependency on QuickTime.
  • Added File and Help menu to preferences dialog.
  • Added "Open Preferences Folder..." and "Trash Temp Files" buttons to the misc preferences.
  • Reduced memory consumption (about 15% with distributed rendering and up to 50% with one-time rendering).
  • Last tab selection of the preferences dialog is remembered.
  • Installer and Uninstaller checks if EarthDesk is already running.
  • Fixed a bug causing EarthDesk to hang up on Windows shutdown.



Time Palette 5.7.10 - 29 Mar, 2008
  • Revised Atlas Database updates EU, Australian and New Zealand Summer Time rules.


MacQibla 3.0.4 - 5 May, 2005
  • Updated for Tiger (OS X 10.4).
  • Fixed a bug under Tiger causing city menus to appear in the wrong location.
  • Fixed a bug preventing proper menu enable/disable under Tiger.

Free Updates

Minor updates (such as EarthDesk 4.0 to 4.0.1) are free. We recommend that you use the latest version of the products you have licensed.
Paid Upgrades

Major upgrades (such as EarthDesk 3.5 to 4.0) are available to registered users for a reduced fee.

Drat... we hate bugs. Please let us know as many details as possible and we will make every effort to resolve the issue. Bugs that are reproducible are the easiest to fix, so the more information you can provide, the better.
